Group 1 and group 7 and working out the periodic table Flashcards
About Francium
Francium has a much lower electrostatic force because he has more electrons meaning he can loose more easier.
About lithium
Lithium has a much stronger electrostatic force because it has much less shells and cannot afford to loose any so has to hold onto them tighter meaning he has a higher electrostatic force.
How a symbol is set out
The top: relative atomic mass
The second down: symbol
The third: name
Last: atomic number
The name and symbol for the whole of group 1
Lithium Li Sodium Na Potassium K Rubidium Rb Caesium Cs Francium Fr
Name the whole of group 7
Fluorine F Chlorine Cl Bromine Br Iodine I Astatine At
What happens going down the group in group 1
The atoms get larger and more reactive
Group 7… What is it?
Group 7 contains the halogens, five chemically related elements.
What is a displacement.
A less reactive element is displaced by a more reactive element.
Give one example of a displacement reaction.
Sodium bromine displaces chlorine because it is more reactive.
What colour does the water turn in a displacement reaction?
Brown
What does pen stand for?
Protons, neutrons and electrons
- P
Li= e—– we only place the electrons on shells - N
