Q

Why does melting point decrease down group?

A

Because distance between nuclei and the sea of electrons increases down the group, so force of attraction decreases so less energy is needed to break metallic bonds.

Q

Why does reactivity increase down the group?

A

Because distance between nucleus and valence electrons increases, therefore electrotatic forces of attraction decrease. It is easier for valence electrons to leave.
