Alter
The table in the church on which the priest celebrates Mass, where the sacrifice of Christ on the cross is made present in the sacrament in the sacrament of the Eucharist. The alter represents two aspects of the mystery of the Eucharist. It is the place where Jesus Christ offers himself for our sins and where he gives us himself in the Eucharist as food for eternal life.
Font
A basin that hold holy water or water used in baptism
Godparent
A witness to baptism who assumes the responsibility for helping the baptized person along the road of Christian life.
Sponsor
A person who assumes responsibility for or supports another or others during a period of instruction, training, etc…
Sacramental
Are objects or signs that sanctify make holy moments of daily life in which help us to pray and to receive with even greater devotion the graces of the sacraments. Holy water, relics and the sign of the cross are all examples of Sacramentals
Bishop
A priest who has been ordained to the episcopacy,The highest degree of holy orders. Bishops are successors to the apostles and can trace their ordination through an unbroken line of succession to one of the apostles. A bishop is appointed by the pope to lead a particular diocese.⭐️
Cardinal
An official of the Roman Catholic Church who’s ranked is just below that of the pope.⭐️
Pope
The Bishop of Rome successor of Saint Peter, and leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Because he has the authority to act in the name of Christ, the pope is called the Vicar of Christ. The pope and all the bishops together make up the living, teaching office of the church, the magisterium.⭐️
Crosier
The staff carried by a bishop that shows he cares for us in the same way that a shepherd cares for his sheep. It also reminds us that a bishop represents Jesus, the good Shepherd.⭐️
Miter
A tall pointed hat worn by the pope, bishops, and abbots as a mark of office. ⭐️
Tabernacle
The container in which the blessed sacrament is kept so that holy Communion can be taken to those who are sick and dying. It is also the name of the tent sanctuary in which the Israelites kept the art of the covenant from the time of the exodus to the construction of Solomon’s temple.
Monstrance
A vessel that holds the blessed sacrament for adoration and benediction.
Beatitudes
Found in the Gospels,these provocative teachings of Jesus show us what life as a Christian is intended to be. By striving to live the beatitudes, we will become even more joyful and keep our eyes fixed on eternal life
