Ground Maneuvers and TOLD GK Flashcards
Use of reverse thrust during pivoting maneuvers is….
PROHIBITED…. dumb ass
General Taxi Speed Limits
- Max Taxi: 40 knots (prepared) 30 knots (SPRO)
- When GW > 490,000 lbs: less than 20 knots symmetric thrust OR less than 15 knots using asymmetric thrust.
- When FW > 165,000 lbs: less than 20 knots symmetric thrust OR less than 15 knots using asymmetric thrust.
Taxi Speed over Arresting Cables
Mission accomplishment may require operation over arresting cables. Operations over arresting cables at speeds in excess of taxi speed may result in damage to the aircraft. SO in other words, no faster than 40 knots or 20 /15 if you’re using a weird combination of symmetric or asymmetric thrust.
Full flap steep approach/assault landings fuel limitation??
Full flap steep approach/assault landings are prohibited with more than 165,000 pounds total fuel UNLESS there is less than 4,000 pounds of fuel in the four extended range compartments combined.
Maximum Landing Touchdown Sink Rate
GW 585K: 600 ft/min (cannot assault)
GW 502,100K: 660 ft/min (CAN assault)
GW: 435,800K: 750 ft/min
MAX G-Limit for Slats extended Flaps 1/2
1.6 to 0.4 G’s
Maximum Cargo Weight
93,000 lbs
Maximum Fuel Load for SPRO operations
It depends….
Normal Tire Pressure & GW < 486K: 92,000 lbs of fuel
Deflated Tires and GW < 435K: 82,000 lbs of fuel
SPRO Taxi Speed Limits
GW <435K: 30 knots
GW <447K: 20 knots
GW > 447K: 15 knots
Minimums for a 180-degree turn on dry pavement
143 feet with NO differential braking and NO A-symmetric thrust
REDUCED: 116 feet WITH differential braking AND A-symmetrical thrust
C-17 Pivoting Points
transitions (like caitlyn jenner) from aft of the outboard engines to slightly outboard of the inboard engines for a minimum radius turn
116 foot same-side reference VS 143 foot same-side
The C-17 can back-up a slope of how many degrees at what gross weight?
2 degrees at 586,000 lbs
Backing: what perfect N1 increases the potential for sompressor stalls?
65-70 percent N1
