Along the side in line with head, throatlatch, and upper neck

3/4 angle to horse with feet pointed towards neck or shoulder
2 safe places for others to stand
far enough to avoid horse, or directly next to the body

min of 1 1/2 times the height of the horses hip
most dangerous place to stand?
2-3 feet from the horse, the length of an outstretched arm
