environmental problems that affect the Earth’s air, water, soil, plants and animals
What is sustainability?
It is about protecting our planet and making sure we don’t ruin it for future generations e.g recycling, growing own food
Is there a water crisis in the world?
yes, from showers and washing up, to swimming pools
Is there an energy crisis in the world?
yes, There are two types of energy: renewable (e.g. wind, solar) and non-renewable (e.g. coal, oil)
Is there a food crisis in the world?
Food production in some countries is very high and they are able to export it around the world. Food consumption is also higher in countries which are more developed
Why are green spaces important?
Many cities are trying to preserve green spaces and create new ones e.eg parks, fields, woodlands
How can we make transport more environmentally friendly?
ride bikes, walk more and go on buses

The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal or plant lives
Desertification
The process in which fertile land becomes desert
Deforestation
Cutting down large areas of trees
Landfill
A rubbish dump used for the disposal of household waste
Decompose
The process of something rotting away / decaying
Acid rain
Rain which is acidic and can have harmful effects on the environment
Global warming
The gradual heating of the Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere, caused by human activity
Sustainability
Using natural resources responsibly so that they last a long time
