Debate that brings out the conflict, chorus acting as the judge
Anagnorisis
Clarification of the unpleasant truth for an important character
Peripeteia
A change in direction for the main character
Catestrophe
The final event of the dramatic action in a tragedy, usually sad
Deus ex machina
Where the unsolvable problems suddenly gets solved, usually by the gods
Chorus
Group of performers that represent the public opinion
Choragos
Spokesman for the chorus
Ode
A song by the chorus
Strophe
Dances from right to left
Parados
First ode, while entering
Exodos
Last ode, upon exiting
Dramatic irony
When audience knows something the characters don’t
Tragic hero
Not all good or just, yet those misfortunes brought unto to them makes them do evil or insane things
Hamartia
Error, sin, or personality flaw that brings the tragic hero to the downfall
