- Cheiron the centaur is being healed by Apollo after being blinded by the arrows of Hercules
- Xanthius helped Cheiron up the stairs
- Possibly Achilles on the far right
- two nymphs at top right
- scroll pattern in top left (found at Apollo temple in Delphi - shows significance to Apollo)
- Two actors play Cheiron (front and rear end)

- made 75 years before the Bacchae so shows myth rather than play - but shows how playwrights utilised myths
- depicts the maenads tearing Pentheus apart, a satryr, Dionysus + a an aulos player

Maenad Vase

- 430 - 420 BC
- depicts a portrayal of a Dionysus ritual
- women dance around a statue of Dionysus decorated with ivy
- maenads have hair down - inappropriate. also some carry a thyrus and some play a tamborine
- shows music was important to Bacchic worship
- pre-dates the Bacchae
