Monarchy
A
- Power in the hands of the king
- Kings declared their power should go to their children instead of being elected
- Early Greek kings were powerful
- Created laws/acted as judges
- Conducted religious ceremonies
- Led armies during wars
- Use force to punish people who disobeyed laws/ didnt pay taxes
- Kings council (aristocrats)
- aristocracts eventually realized how powerful they were and took over

A
- Made up of the Aristocracts and wealthy merchants
- Abused their power
- ignored the needs of the people
- the poor turned to leaders who promised to improve their lives - army leaders

tyranny
A
- Dictator
- Not a lawful king
- Highest ranking member of the military
- Tyrants have no legitimate legal limits on their rule
- Children do not inherit power
- Improved ther lives of the poor but not all
- People eventually stopped supporting the tyrant - democracy

- Everyone votes on every issue
