A city and farms, towns, and villages around it.
City-State
A city-state in Ancient Greece
Polis
A walled fort built on a hill.
Acropolis
An open-air market and gathering place in Greek city-states
Agora
A short story usually involving animals, that teaches a moral lesson.

Fable
“The Hare and the Tortoise”
Group of actors.
Troupe
A person who appeals to the emotions and prejudices of people in order to arouse discontent (unhappiness) and advance his/her own political purposes.
Demagogue
An agreement to cooperate.
Alliance
A culture that blended Greek, Persian, Egyptian, and Indian styles and customs.
Hellenism
Relating to many cultures.
Multicultural
King or Queen who have supreme power.
Monarchy
A government ruled by the upper class of society or nobility (gained right to rule by birth)
Aristocracy
Rule by a few. Similar to an Aristocracy, but you gain power by the amount of wealth you have not by your birth right.
Oligarchy
“Cruel ruler” someone who took power in an illegal way. Example…
Tyrant
A wealthy person promising rights to the poor to help him get into power.
A written work designed for actors to perform.
Drama
Trying to portray objects including humans in as perfect a form as possible.
