A

The Bishop of Rome, Leo did not want to lose his power, so he said before Jesus ascended to heaven. He put his disciple peter in charged.leo claimed that Peter was the first bishop and the authority was passed from one bishop to the next

The pope saw Luther as a threat as people no longer had to rely on him for the bible but could read it themselves in response he issued a document accusing him of Hersey but Luther burned it.in the end the pope excommunicated hi,.new churches will built based of Luther’s teachings and were known as Protestant churches because it protested against the Catholic Church
