What caused the Great Fire?
The fire started in the early hours of 2nd September at a
bakery in Pudding Lane. Hot coals fell from the oven onto
straw, which caught fire.
When was the great fire of London?

How many houses burnt down during the great fire?
In the end, 13,000 houses had been destroyed.
How did people try and stop the fire from spreading?
As the fire spread, Londoners blew up their buildings to try
to stop the fire jumping from house to house.

How was the fire put out?
In the end the only thing that saved London was the weather. The wind calmed down and the weather got cooler! They still tried lots of things but they didn’t work.

London went through a stage of grand rebuilding making london a cleaner and healthier place to live!
