-Oct 29, 1929: Stock Market crashed and marked beginning of Great Depression, but didn’t cause it
-Started under Herbert Hoover’s administration; he was unable to end the depression and it helped him to not get reelected
-Dust Bowl occurred during 1930s and added trouble to the Depression; Great Plains were affected and dust bowl farmers moved to California to escape the conditions
-Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal program (Alphabet Soup) helped to ease the troubles of the Depression and used Fireside Chats to communicate to the public
-New Deal programs are: WPA, CCC, PWA, TVA, AAA, NRA, FDIC, and Federal Number 1
-Workers of these programs usually would receive credit issued to them b/c stores knew they would be able to repay debts
-New Deal used gov’t money to create jobs all over the country (Deficit Spending)
-20th Amendment: passed to move inauguration from March to January b/c country had to wait for New Deal programs to begin when FDR took office
