Ebullience
adj. the quality of lively or enthusiastic expression of thoughts and feelings
Eccentric
adj. departing from norms or conventions
something or someone eccentric demonstrates eccentricity
Eclectic
adj. composed of elements drawn from various sources
Edifying
adj. enlightening, informative
Edification is the process of edifying
Some people incorrectly use edifying to mean satisfying, and while being enlightened can be satisfying, the two are not exactly the same
Efficacy
n. the ability to produce an intended result
Efficicacy shares a root with effectiveness, and means pretty much the same thing
Efflorescence
n. the state or a period of flowering; an example or result of growth and development
Effrontery
n. extreme boldness; presumptuousness
Effusive
adj. gushing; excessively demonstrative
Egress
n. exit
egress can either be a noun, meaning an exit or going out, or a verb, meaning to exit or emerge. Ingress is the opposite of egress
Elegy
n. a mournful poem, especially one lamenting the dead; any mournful writing or piece of music
It’s very easy to confuse elegy with eulogy, whihc is also in this book, but the two aren’t exactly the same
Eloquent
adj. well-spoken; expressive; articulate
Emollient
adj. soothing, especially to the skin; making less harsh; mollifying
Empirical
adj. based on observation or experiment
Encomium
n. glowing and enthusiastic praise; panegyric, tribute, eulogy
Endemic
adj. characteristic of or often found in a particular locality, region, or people; restricted to or peculiar to that region; indigenous

Enervate
v. to weaken; to reduce in vitality
Evervation is a common symptom of anemia
don’t confuse with Enervate with innervate
Engender
v. to cause, produce, give rise to
Enigmatic
adj. mysterious, obscure, difficult to understand
Enigma is the noun form of enigmatic and means a mystery or puzzle
Ennui
n. dissatisfaction and restlessness resulting from boredom or apathy
Enormity
n. excessive wickednes, evilness
be careful not to confuse with enormousness. When we talk about the enormity of a crime we are talking about the wickedness of the crime and not the size of the crime
