Gravitational Forces Flashcards
Learn Meaning
Gravitational Forces
Gravitational forces are always attractive, noncontact forces between objects that have mass.
Attractive
When a force is attractive, it pulls objects together.
Orbit
An orbit is the path that an object in space follows around another object due to gravitational forces between the objects.
Gravitational Fields
Gravitational fields are maps of force fields that can be used to predict which gravitational forces will pull objects.
Weight
Weight is the amount of gravitational force on an object.
Mass
Mass is the amount of matter in an object.
Force Field
A model called a force field will describe what the force on an object would be if the object were placed in any location in space.
