What are the three types of graph?
Bar chart, histogram, scattergraph
What type of data is displayed on a bar chart?
Discrete data
On a bar chart data is divided into categories. There categories will appear as what instead of numbers?
Words
What axis do categories go on in a bar chart?
The x axis
What goes on the y axis of a bar chart?
The frequency of each category
What is a bar chart used for?
To compare conditions
Do the bars touch in a bar chart and why?
NO - to show that the data is in separate conditions (discrete)
What data does a histogram display?
Continuous data (not discrete/ in separate categories) OR data where each ppt has an individual score.
What do histograms represent?
Frequencies
What is represented on the x axis of a histogram?
The scores, made up of equal sized intervals.
The frequency of the number of people that had a certain mark within each interval of a histogram goes on which axis?
The y axis
In a histogram, what do you do if a frequency is 0?
Not draw a bar but still include the interval.
Should the bars be touching in a histogram and why?
YES - to show data is continuous rather than separate categories.
What does a scattergraph display?
A relationship between two co variables
What do scattergraphs represent?
Correlations
