Whats the status with grants given the imminent departure from the EU?
The majority of grants such as LEADER and Rural Development Programme grants were funded with EU money and the schemes have started to close to new applicants. Some grants are still available in 2019.
Tell me about LEADER grants?
Ending 2020 Offer grant funding for a range of agricultural equipment and diversification including: Direct drills GPS Cattle handling equipment Slurry sand separator Shepard huts Barn conversion for diversification purposes
How much of a project will LEADER fund?
40% of overall cost.
typically capped around £35,000 but varies between LEADER local action groups
LEADER is a 2 stage process, explain them?
First, an expression of interest, which gives basic info about the business and proposed project.
If accepted, invited to apply for a full application, including application form, 3 quotes, cash flow analysis and other supporting information
When will LEADER funding stop?
There is a limited budget and many local action groups have run out
What is the RDPE?
Rural Development Program for England
What does the RDPE provide for?
Money for projects to improve agriculture, the rural environment and rural life
What does RDPE funding go towards?
Schemes to:
Improve the environment
Increase the productivity of farming and forestry
Grow the rural economy
What is the future of the RDPE after BREXIT?
You will continue to revive funding until your project closes. Any new projects need to be approved before 30 December 2020
Tell me about the RDPE Countryside Productivity Scheme?
It provides funding for projects in England which improve farm or forestry productivity and help create jobs and growth in the rural economy.
It is administered by the RPA

Small Grants Water resource management and reservoirs Improving forestry productivity Adding value to Agri-food Improving farm productivity

Main Scheme
40% funding for capital investment
Grants between £35,000 to £1m
Small Grants Scheme
40% funding to provide grants of £3,000 to £12,000
