What is a sentence?
A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.
What is a subject?
A subject tell whom or what the sentence is about.
What is a verb?
Verbs tell what the subject is or does.
What is a verb phrase?
Verb phrases are two or more verbs acting together as one verb. They are made from one main verb and one or more helping verbs.
Examples: will run, might have jumped, had painted
What is helping verbs?
Helping verbs help the main verb. They express certain tenses or conditions of main verbs, and they canβt stand on their own. If you have a helping verb, then you must also have a main verb.
What is a Declarative sentence?
They make statements. They end with periods.
Examples: We walk. Maria will skip. Children play.
What is Interrogative sentences?
They ask questions. They end with question marks.
Examples: Are you singing? Will you be dancing? Did he run?
What are nouns?
Nouns are words that name people, places, things, or ideas.
Examples: student, Joe Paris, pencil, freedom, classroom
What are pronouns?
Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns.
Examples: it, he, she, them, you, they, we
What are Imperative sentences?
They give commands. The subject of imperative sentences is you understood or (you)
Examples: Go. Stay. Sit.
What are adjectives?
They are words that describe (or modify) nouns or pronouns.
Examples: cute cat, yummy cookie, four dogs

Which one? What kind? How many? Whose?
What are adverbs?
They are words that describe (or modify) verbs , adjectives, and other adverbs.
Examples: gracefully walking, extremely happy, very slowly
Adverb questions
How? When? Where? To what extent? Why?*
What are prepositions?
They are words that show the relationship between a noun or a pronoun and another word or element in the rest of the sentence. They are ALWAYS in prepositional phrases.
