A simile is a way of describing something by comparing it to something else. Usually uses ‘as’ or ‘like’.

What is a metaphor?

A way of describing something by saying it is something else.
E.g. My legs were filled with lead.
What does ‘paraphrase’ mean?
To reduce a sentence

What is the difference between a work of ‘fiction’ and ‘non-fiction’?
Fiction is text that has been made up by the author, about imaginary people and events.
Non-fiction is text that is about real people and events.
What is a prefix?
Give some examples of prefixes and their meanings.
A prefix is a string of letters that can be put in front of a word to change its meaning.
