what are determiners?
words at the beginning of a noun phrase and tells something about the noun e.g. the, an, my
what is a quantifier?
determiners that modify noun e.g. all, every, few.
what is a definite article?
e.g. the

what is a pocessive determiner?
determiner that shows pocession of noun e.g. my ours
what is a demonstrative determiner?
a determiner that demonstrates a noun e.g. that, those
how do determiners differ from pronouns?
pronouns stand on their own and determiners come in front of a noun
what is a preposition?
tell us the position of something e.g. next to, in behind
what is a conjunction?
words that join phrases together such as and, but, because, etc
what is a compound sentence?
consists of two independant clauses joined by a co-ordinating conjunction.
what is a complex sentence?
a sentence made up og a independant clause and a subordinate clause.
what is a minor sentence?
a sentence that has not got a sentence and a verb - technically not a sentece e.g. omg!
what is a simple sentence?
sentence consisting of a verb and sunject. e.g. tom ran
what is a declaritve sentence?
these are statements of facts e.g. the dinsosaurs became extinct.
what is a imperative sentence?
these give orders and begin with an imperative verb. e.g. shut the door
what is a exclamatory sentence?
these are sentences with an exclamation mark e.g. i hate spinach!
what is an interrogative sentence?
these ask questions. e.g. can you come around later?
what is an independant clause?
a mini sentence that amkes sense on its own
what is a subordinating clause?
a mini sentence that does not make sense on its own
what is a co-ordinating conjunction?
