Verbal used as an adjective
Clause
Groups of words used that has a subject and a predicate and that is part of a sentence
Independent clause
A clause that can stand alone as a sentence
Subordinate clause
A clause that cannot stand as a sentence
Phrase
Group of words used as a part of speech and not containing a verb and it’s subject
Complements
Competes the thought of a sentence
Direct object
Answers the question to whom or for whom or for what after a subject and action verb
Indirect object
Answers the questions to whom or for whom or for what after an action verb
Predicate nominative
Noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb and renames the subject
Predicate adjective
Follows a linking verb and describes the subject
Gerund
Verbal ending in -ing and used as a noun
Subject
Part of the sentence about which one is speaking

Part of the sentence that talks about the subject
