a word expressing an attribute and qualifying a NOUN, NOUN PHRASE, or PRONOUN so as to describe it more fully.
adv
adverb
a word which modifies the meaning of a verb, and adjective, another adverb, or a whole clause or sentence, and which typically expresses manner (he spoke QUIETLY), degree (she is VERY clever), or a circumstance such as place, direction, or time (come HERE; they arrived YESTERDAY).
Also, words which end in -ly are typically adverbs (ANGRILY, NICELY)
conj
conjunction
a word used to connect other words, phrases, clauses, or sentence. AND, BUT, OR, IF, WHEN, ALTHOUGH, BECAUSE, and UNLESS are all common conjunctions. Also, AS SOON AS.
det
determiner
a word which precedes a noun and limits the application of that noun. THE in ‘the park’, SOME in ‘some cheese’ and BOTH in ‘both boys’.

interjection
a word which functions independently of other words and typically represents an exclamation or command. ALAS, EUREKA, HUSH, OOPS.
n
noun
a word which can function as the subject or object of a verb, or as the object of a preposition, and which typically denotes a person, place or thing.

preposition
a word which typically precedes a noun, noun phrase, or pronoun and expresses a relationship between it and another word in the sentence. AFTER, AT, BY, FOR, FROM, IN, ON, TO, and WITH are all common prepositions in English.
pro
pronoun
a word which functions like a noun and refers to something or someone mentioned elsewhere in the discourse (Michael took the children with HIM), or identifiable from context or usage (i’d like THOSE).
v
verb
a word which typically describes what a person or thing does, or what happens: BE, MAKE, BUILD, REMEMBER, OCCUR, and SEEM are al examples of verbs in English.
