Elide
When a letter falls out of a word without leaving a trace like a dagesh forte (footprint).
usual letters to elide:
י ו ה א
Energic נ
Added to some suffixes - we think it is there to energize the suffix. Ie to provide “punch” to the end.
Euphonic dagesh
When a word ending in an open syllable is connected to the next word by a maqqef or a conjunctive accent, then the first letter of the next word will usually have have a dagesh if it is a BeGaDKePHaT letter.
Paragogic נ
A final נ added to the end of a word, usually after a long vowel in prefix forms. It enhances the sound of the word but does not appear to have any grammatical significance
Quiescent
A letter that is seen but not heard. It is most common with י or ו or ה but sometimes א or ע. This happens when there is no vowel sound attached to them.
