Adjective:
A word which describes or gives more information about a noun or pronoun. For example, I have a white Blackberry.
Adverb:
A word that gives more information about a verb, an adjective or another adverb. For example, I play with my friends everyday!
Preposition:
A word which shows a relationship amongst other words in the sentence. For example, my laptop is never left under my bed.
Conjunction:
A word that connections other words or groups of words in a sentence. For example, my favourite movies are Harry Potter and Twilight.
Article:
Is a form of adjective which is always used with and gives information about a noun (there are only two articles: a and the) For example, my family is the most important thing in my life.
Nouns:
Describe the places, people and things that are a part of our world! There are many different kinds of nouns.
Verbs:
Show an action or a state of being and every sentence needs one! For example, “Ethan ran towards his father with big tears in his eyes.” There are present, past and future verb forms.
Pronouns:
Are used to replace nouns and noun phrases. They have a general reference such as “I, you, they, who” etc. For example “I told you yesterday not to forget that soccer was at 7pm!” There are singular and plural pronouns.
Proper Nouns:
Begin with a capital letter as they describe a specific person, people or thing. For example, Barack Obama, Italy and Burger King, would all have capital letters as they are specific names and titles of people and places.
Common Nouns:
Do not begin with a capital letter as they describe a common person, people or thing. For example, girl, restaurant, school.
Special Plural form for Nouns:
This can be achieved by adding an s, es, ren, ies or other plural forms to a noun. For example, mouse would be a singular noun as it is just one. Mice is a plural noun because there is more than one.
