Noun
A noun is a person place or thing. Eg. Person girl. Place home. Thing table.
Adjective
An adjective is a describing word. An adjective describes nouns or pronouns. Eg. My sister is short. Short is the adjective
Verb
A verb is a doing word. A verb can tell what someone is doing. Eg. I’m running the 100m soon.
Pronoun
A pronoun is used in place of a noun. Eg. I, you, me
Article
The words a, an and the belong to a special group of adjectives called articles. Eg. A dog, An apple, The girl.
Adverb
An adverb describes a verb. Eg. I was running quickly.
Preposition
A preposition combines with a noun or pronoun. Eg. From, to, until, over, with.
Conjunction
A conjunction joins together single words or groups of words in a sentence. Eg. And, but however.
Interjection
An interjection expresses strong feeling or emotion. Eg. Help! Ahhhh!
Proper noun
A specific person, place or thing. Eg. Mary, Lowa, Disneyland
Common Noun
A general person, place or thing. Eg.girl, state, park
Compound noun
Two or more words that create one noun.Eg.toothpaste, six-pack, post office
Countable Noun
Can be counted. Eg. dolphin, mile, book
Uncountable Noun
Cannot be counted. Eg. junk, freedom, sand
Collective Noun
Group of things. Eg. family, herd, team
Concrete Noun
Can be seen, felt, heard, smelled or tasted
Abstract Noun
Cannot be seen, felt, heard, smelled or tasted
