It is the subject.
It normally follows the verb “to be/sein”.

A
Akkusativ is DOGFU.
Der = Den
It is the direct object. It is the 4. Fall (for unknown reasons). Ich kaufe das Buch. Ich gehe durch den Gang. Sie lernt ohne mich. Er übt für sie. Ich spiele gegen dich. Wir sitzen um den Tisch.

What is Dativ?
A
Dativ is the indirect object. It is the 3. Fall (the third case). You can remove it from the sentence and it should still make sense.
Der and das = dem.
Die = der
Die (plural) = die
Need to ask “whom” or “where”.

Ich bin mit meinem Rad nach Hause gefahren.
