A
the part of a sentence or clause containing a verb and stating something about the subject
(e.g., ‘went home’ in “John went home” ).

CLAUSE VS SENTENCE VS PHRASE
A
Clauses include sentences and non-sentences, they are a broad category that is defined as containing at the minimum a SUBJECT and RELATED VERB. Clauses can be a sentence or a sentence can contain many clauses.
