Two things happening concurrently
(책을 읽으면서 커피를 마셔요 = drinking coffee while reading a book)
~을까 하다 / ~ㄹ까 하다
Uncertain/undecided future tense.
(주말에 해변 갈까 해요 = I might go to the beach this weekend but I’m not sure. Or, I’m thinking of going to the beach this weekend)
~으려고 / ~려고
With the intent to, in order to
~는 척 하다
Pretend to do
~러 / ~으러
To go/come in order to, (like 으려고 but specifically when moving to a different location)
~자마자
As soon as (집 오자마자 밥 먹어야돼)
~자
As soon as (basically a short version of 자마자) (in this sense it will be a connector. “Let’s” will be at the end of a sentence.)
~이자
Shows something is two things
(이것은 처음이자 마지막 기회예요: this is your first and last chance. 저는 선생님이자 학생이에요 I am a teacher and a student.)
~을/ㄹ 줄 알다/모르다
Know how to do / not know how to do something
~은/는/ㄴ 줄 알았다 / 몰랐다
Didn’t know / thought that
(몰랐다 - to not be aware of / not anticipate something
알았다 - Incorrect assumption, not know something)
~며 / ~으며
-Can be same as ~으면서
-or can be similar to ~고, just connecting two ideas
~다가
I was ____ but then….. (First action cut sorry or not completed because of the following action. 학생이 열심히 공부하다가 잠왔어)
~을 테니까 ….
Shows intent to do something, followed by a condition or suggestion. (Used in reference to yourself/the speaker) 내가 돈을 많이 벌을 테니까 걱정하지마. I plan to make a lot of money, so don’t worry
~었더라면/ ~었더라도 ….~었을 것이다
If … Would
(돈 많이 벌었더라면 집 샀을 거야. If I made a lot of money I would buy a house)
~을 텐데(요)
Suppose/ expect something to probably happen. Has annoyed/disappointed connotation. Can be used at the end of a sentence or as a conjunction.
(날씨가 추울 텐데요. It sucks that it’ll probably be cold)
