Verb Tense
The verb tense must match that of the rest of the sentence.
Subject-verb agreement
The verb must agree with the plurality/singularity of the subject closest to it, except if and is used.
Pronoun agreement
A pronoun must agree with agree with its antecedent (the noun it refers so) in number, gender, and person.
Illogical comparison
A comparison in a sentence must be between similar things(i.e. Not a person and a thing)
Parallel construction
All sentence elements that express parallel ideas must be in the same form( i.e. Consistent gerund)
Wordiness
The use of unnecessary words is an error.
Incorrect preposition
The preposition must fit the object of the proposition (always a noun)
Misplaced modifier
A modifier must be placed as closely as possible to the word it modified
Who/Which
The words who and whom are used to refer to people.
Who/Whom
Use who is an subject. Use whom as an object or a verb or preposition.
By/from
Things are caused by other, not caused from them.
Less/least, more/most, between/among
Less, more, and between are used to compare two objects. Least, most, among are for more than 2 objects
Comma splice, run-on
A run-on sentence us two complete sentences out together.
