Grade 9 questions Flashcards
How would the specific heat capacity change of the insulation around a lead block had higher thermal conductivity in a specific heat capacity experiment
A higher thermal conductivity with mean The energy transferred from the lead to the surroundings would be a higher rate therefore the temperature of the lead would increase at a slower rate so specific heat capacity would increase because more energy would be transferred in a temperature
In parallel circuits should a heater be added in parallel to a resistor or thermistor
It should be connected to the thermostat as the external temperature decreases the resistance of the thermostat will increase therefore it will have a higher potential difference in parallel circuits the potential difference is equal everywhere so the heaters potential difference prince will also increase and it will heat up as the temperature decreases
A circuit is built so that a resistor and an ammeter is a parallel to a lightbulb and another ammeter. Resistor has a higher resistance than the lightbulb and the potential difference is the same around how would the reading on the ammeter added with the resistor differ from the ammeter with the lightbulb
In parallel circuits are currently shared therefore whether there is a lower resistance there is a higher current so initially the reading of the ammeter with the lightbulb will have a higher current however if the voltage is increase the potential difference of the lightbulb or increase to the resistance of the lightbulb will also increase therefore it will receive a smaller fraction of the current so the reading all of the ammeter attached with the resistance will increase the reading on first and metres will be equal when the resistance is equal with the lightbulb and the resistor
