Until both your thighs are in a straight line with the floor (horizontal)
On what part of the feet should most of the body’s weight be placed in a plie?
On the little toe side
Which joints do you use in a plie?
The hip, knee and ankle joints
Where are the knees in a plie?
Pressed out to the side
What is a battement tendu?
It is pointing the foot into an open position and re-closing into third or fifth position. The toes must be fully pointed and the instep arched. (It is the first and last part of a grand battement)
What is a grand battement?
It is a throwing of the leg up into the air and re-closing again
Where does a grand battement commence and finish?
In third or fifth position
In a grand battement do you throw the leg up or carry it?
The league is thrown going up and supported (carried) coming down
What sound should be heard in a grand battement?
A swishing sound
How do you make the swishing sound?
By pushing the foot along the floor until it is fully arched (this helps to make the feet strong)
What shape is a rond de jambe?
It is an oval or egg shape
Where are the two extreme ends of the Oval?
Fourth devant and forth derriere (in line with supporting heel)
What does en dedans mean?
Inward
What does port de bras mean?
Carriage or movement of the arms, with the use of body and head
How are the shoulders moved in epaulement?
One shoulder is bought forward and the other shoulder is taken back. The head looks over the forward shoulder.
