What is the definition of unemployment?
When potential employees are willing and able to work but there are no suitable jobs available for them.
What does EAP stand for?
Economically active population
What are the types of unemployment?
- Structural unemployment
- Frictional (demand-deficiency)
- Seasonal unemployment
What is structural unemployment?
Caused by progression in technology. Machines replace people
What is frictional/demand-deficiency unemployment?
When the population growth is higher than the economic growth
What is seasonal unemployment?
Evident in industries that are seasonal (agriculture, hotel etc)
What are the implications of unemployment?
- Self esteem suffers
- Crime and violence arise
- Poverty
- Political consequences
What are the advantages of a “green” business?
- Increased market share
- Marketing opportunities
- Complying with legislation
- Responsible use of recourses
- Positive publicity
What are the roles of citizens?
- Loyalty to the country

- Social responsibility: contribute to community
- Environmental responsibility: care for the environment
What do CSR and CSI stand for and mean?
CSR-Corporate Social responsibility: moral obligation the businesses contributes to the community
CSI-Corporate Social Investment: factors of production business gives to help community (putting in money)
