Describe how the deluge system works, when to activate it and where the trips are located.
It’s used to wash down area for spills and knock down vapors that are flashing off, activate when a release or spill occurs. Switches are located at top and bottom of stairs.
Instead of a pump, MA has a what and is controlled by what?
Compressor and Venturi system, controlled by process.
Who controls the EDA pump? Who gives permission to start it up BEFORE starting?
When unloading is complete, what is the procedure for returning pump to PGA and turning off pump.

Turn pump switch off, close valves, contact process to let them know they have pump back and switch is off.
Do you notify PGA that you are ready to unload?
Yes, before every unload.
What position is the pump control in during unloading?
Auto
What position is the pump switch in when the unload is complete?
Off.
What is the definition of Line and Equipment Opening?
Opening lines, equipment, or part of process to the atmosphere.
What are the advantages of using a double block and bleed?
Allows isolation of specific areas, safely de-pressures lines/equipment, and prevents cross contamination.
Give examples of line and equipment openings during the R/C unload procedure from start to finish.
Removing plugs from liquid and vapor valves on R/C, removing plugs from unloading hoses, disconnecting hoses after unloading.
Describe how to correctly remove a bull plug.
With hand/body out of line of fire, slowly remove bull plug while wiggling plug to release stored pressure
Describe how to assemble a double block and bleed.
Block valve, bleed valve, pressure gauge, check valve, block valve.
Check valve on utility side to prevent product contaminating utility lines.
What are some hazards associated with insufficient line clearing?
PSCE, exposures, cross contamination, frozen products in lines, thermal expansion, equipment damage/gasket failures.
Give some examples of different ways to clear a line.
Nitrogen, air, steam, rodding out line.
During the line and equipment opening and clearing procedure what must always occur?
Stay out of the line of fire and de-pressure equipment.
Explain the steps to secure a manway on a general service railcar, when using a pneumatic wrench.
Tighten in a star pattern and double check tightness in same pattern.
