Firearm
A lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or missile can be discharged and includes:
- Any “prohibited weapon”, whether leathal barrelled or not
- Any “component part” of such lethal or prohibited weapon
- Any “accessory” to such weapons which are designed or adapted to diminish the sound or flash caused by firing the weapon
Aire Weapon
An air weapon, that is to say, an air rifle, air gun or air pistol which does not fall within Section 5(1) of the Firearms Act 1968, and
1. The component parts of an air weapon
2 Any accessory’s to such a weapon designed or adapted to diminish the noise caused by discharging the weapon
Ammunitions
Any ammunition for any firearm and includes;
- Grenades, bombs and other life missiles;
- Whether capable of use with a firearm or not
Shotgun
A shotgun is a smooth bore gun, not being an air weapon which;
- Has a barrel length not less than 24 inches in length
- A barrel bore not exceeding 2 inches in diameter
- Must not have a magazine capable of holding more that two cartridges
Imitation Firearm
Anything which has the appearance of being a firearm (other than such a weapon as is mentioned it Section 5(1)(b) of the Act) whether or not it is capable of discharging any shot, bullet or other missile
Alcohol
Spirits, wine, beer, cider or any other fermented, distilled or spirituous liquor but does not include alcohol which is of a strength of 0.5% or less, at the time of its sale
Major Incident
An event or situation with a range of serious consequences which required special arrangement to be implemented by one or more emergency responder agency
Critical Incident
Any incident where the effectiveness of the police response is likely to have a significant impact on the confidence of the victim, their family and or the community
Relevant Ground
Any part of the ground:
- To which the spectators are granted access on payment; or,
- From which the event can be viewed directly (this would cover those grounds and instances when access is permitted without payment)
Period of Designated Sporting Event
A period:
- Which commences 2 hours before the start, or advertised start, and
- Is concluded one hour after the event. (This applies to an advertised event even if it is subsequently postponed or cancelled)
Controlled Container
A container of any description which:
- Is, or was, capable of holding any liquid; and
- Is made from material which, if the container were to be thrown or propelled at a person, could cause injury to that person
Controlled Article or Substance
- Any article or substance whose main purpose is the emission of a flare for purposes of illuminating or signalling (as opposed to igniting or heating) or the emission of smoke or a visible gas; and in particular it includes distress flares, fog signals, and pellets and capsules intended to be used as fumigators or for testing pipes, but not matches, cigarette lighters or heaters; and pipes, but not matches, cigarette lighters or heaters; and
- Any article which is a firework
Public Assembly
An assembly of 20 or more persons in a public place which is wholly or partly open to the air
Public Place
A - “Any highway, or in Scotland any road within the meaning of Road (Scotland) Act 1984”, and
B - “Any place to which at the material time the public or any section of the public has access, on payment or otherwise, as of right or by virtue or express or implied permission”
Mobbing and Rioting
Mobbing and rioting is a crime at common law and is committed when a number of person assemble and combine for a common purpose to the alarm of the lieges and in breach of the peace
