Monarchy
Inheritance power of Dictatorship king/queen.
Oligarchy
A small group of people in control of society.
Kleptocracy
A gov’t led by a Dictatorship leader who is a criminal.
Democracy
People power/rule (people decide via votes for a leader).
Theocracy
A gov’t that is built on specific beliefs often religious beliefs or cultural.
Republic
No king/ queen in charge but the Leader is voted through Democracy.
Constitutional Monarchy
A government that has a figurehead without power and is elected via democracy, often the figurehead links the gov’t of the country to a higher figure (e.g Canada).
Totalitarianism
Authoritarian form of government in which the ruling party recognizes no limitations whatsoever on its power, including in its citizens’ lives or rights. A single figure often holds power and maintains authority through widespread surveillance, control over mass media, intimidating demonstrations of paramilitary or police power, and suppression of protest, activism, or political opposition.
Aristocracy
A gov’t that is a small, elite ruling class of people is often decided/chosen because of their origin, schooling, e.t.c. They often control the lower socioeconomic strata (society’s categorization of its people).
Communism
A centralized form of government is led by a single party that is often authoritarian in its rule.
Socialism
A system that encourages cooperation rather than competition among citizens. Citizens communally own the means of production and distribution of goods and services, while a centralized government manages it.
Dictatorship
Society is controlled by 1 person.
