A country is ethically the same. Example: Japan
Nation-State
The power is given to the people, the citizens, of the nation.
Democracy
Vote for someone to represent us in government.
Republic
When every citizen is given an equal vote in government and, together, make all important decisions.
Direct democracy
This is where citizens elect ( vote or choose) lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
indirect democracy
For instance is a government run by religious doctrine.
Theocracy
A small group of people that is in charge.
Oligarchy
There is no sharing power with other authorities.
Dictatorship
When the monarch holds total control over the country.
Absolute Monarchy
When the monarch holds some of the power but it is restricted by a constitution.
Constitutional Monarchy
Is an interesting type of government, because it’s technically not a government
Anarchy
A group of people who control the country, make laws, and keep order
Government
What are the roles of government?
To make and enforce laws, protect people and to provide public services.
What three powers do all governments have?
Make laws, enforce laws and judiciary power ( alter laws).
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
