Nation-State
To vote for someone to represent us in government. Example: United States
Republic
When every citizen is given an equal vote in the government, and together, make all of the important decisions. Example: Ancient Athens
Direct Democracy
Where citizens elect their lawmakers to represent their interests in the government. Example: United States
Indirect Democracy
A government run by a religious doctrine. Example: Vatican City
Theoracy
Where a small group of people is in charge. Example: Saudi Arabia
Oligarchy
One person has 100% power; Someone who doesn’t share power with anyone else and has full power. Example: North Korea
Dictatorship
The ruler holds full control over the country. Example: England before the Magna Carta in 1215.
Absolute Monarchy
The king/queen holds some power but the power is restricted by a constitution.
Constitutional Monarchy
There are no rules. Nobody governs.
Anarchy
A person or group of people that make laws, control the country and keep order.
Government

To make and enforce laws, protect people, and provide public services.
What three powers do all governments have?
Make laws, enforce laws, and have judiciary powers.
The power is given to the people.
Democracy
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
