What is the federal governments role?
To raise money to run the country by collecting tax.
Example: they provide us defence armies to protect us
What is the state governments role?
To get some money from taxes but majority is from the federal government, it’s spent on state matters.
Example: they provide us with enough emergency services based on populations
What is the role of the local government?
To fix local matters and money is received from taxes from property owners and also receive money from both federal and state governments.
Example: rubbing men come to collect rubbing from houses in the local areas.
What are the main political parties in Australia?
Labor
Liberal
Greens
Nationals
The difference between between the HOR and the Senate
HOR- Lower house Green Determines government, debates & passes laws Vote on bills and amendments
Senate- Upper house Red Decide national matters. Represent the states and territories

HOR - 150 seats
Senate - 76 seats
Who can vote
Australian citizens over the age of 18.
Australian citizens who have been in jail for less than 3 years.

The concept of a representative democracy?
A system of government where all eligible voters, vote on a representative who will pass laws from them.
What is the voting process?
A sheet of paper will be given to you with boxes next to names you must number in order of preference
How often are elections held?
Every 4 years
How is the winner of an election decided?
After all votes are tallied and distributed into the correct pills the lowest pile will be taken out and re disgusted according to the 2nd vote and so on till there is one clear winner.
Electorate?
Consists of 80-90000 eligible voters. In HOR their is 150 seats meaning their is one representative from each electorate representing that area. In the senate their is 76 seats and 12 are from the states while 2 are from territories.
