  • (DEMAND) offers cheap versions of the original causing a loss in demand for the original product and creating a low or bad reputation for the original company

  • often poorly made
  • ruin the company’s reputation for the products they copy
  • counterfeiters steal the money but it should be going to the original company; companies/businesses could go broke and might have to lay off workers
