Representative democracy
Political system in which eligible people can vote for candidates to carry out the business of governing on their behalf such as the British government system
Bicameralism
Having two parliamentary chambers auch as in the UK parliment
Unitary system
Supreme power isn’t divided between the national and state governments such as China’s government system
Federalism
System of government in which a state or territory is controlled by two levels of government, Australia federalised on 1st Jan 1901
Prerogative powers
Common law powera of the crown, the GG can choose the chief of naval and military forces
Constitutionalism
Adherance of government according to constitutional principles, Federal laws of the US government
Absolute monarchy
Constitutional minsrchy modelled on the westminster system, used in Saudi Arabia
Constitutional monarchy
System of government in which a monarch shares power with a constitutionally organised government, Used in Belgium
Vertical fiscal imbalance
When the commonwealth is getting more money than they need (80/50) whereas the states are getting less money than needed (20/50) which allows for the commonwealth to intrude into areas of law making
