One political party is in power and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
Totalitarian
The organization inside a state, it has four main roles.
Government
A government in which one person has all the power.
Autocracy
A king or queen rules the country.
Monarchy
A form of government where one leader has absolute control over citizens’ lives.
Dictatorship
Citizens’ hold the political power.
Democracy
Citizens’ elect leaders to represent their rights and interests in government.
Representative Democracy
There are no representatives. Citizens’ are directly involved in the day-to-day work of governing the country.
Direct Democracy
When a monarchy co-exists with a democracy.
Constitutional Monarchy
A small group of people has all the power.
Oligarchy
A small group of people-usually military officers-who rule a country after taking it over by force.
Junta
A government that recognizes God as a divine being as the ultimate authority.
Theocracy
nobody is in control-or everyone is, depending on how you look at it.
