Autocracy
One person is in power (Example: Monarchy and dictatorship)
Totalitarian
One political party is in power. And people are forced to do what the government tells them
Monarchy
a king or queen inherits their power and position through the family line
absolute monarchy
the monarch holds total control over the country
Constitutional monarchy
This is when the monarch holds some power, but it is restricted by a constitution. Example: a written or unwritten document that lays out the structure of the government
Dictatorship
there is no longer sharing power with other authorities
oligarchy
a small group of people are in charge
democracy
the power is given to the people the citizens of the nation
direct democracy
this is when every citizen is given an equal vote in government and together make all of the important decisions
representative democracy
also known as indirect democracy. Citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government.

also known as representative democracy. Citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
