Autocracy
One person is in power
(Example: Monarchy and Dictatorship
Totalitarian
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them (China)
Monarchy
A king or queen inherits their power and position though their family line.
Absolute monarchy
The monarch holds total control over the country
Constitutional Monarchy
The monarch holds some power, but it is restricted by a constitution
Dictatorship
There is no sharing power with other authorities. The dictator is the sole ruler over their country
Oligarchy
A small group of people is in charge
Democracy
The power is given to the people
Direct democracy
This is when every citizen is given an equal vote in government and together, make all of the important decisions
Indirect democracy
Representative democracy is modeled after the Ancient Roman Republic. This is where citizens elect ( vote for, or choose) lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
