Autocracy
one person in power

Toltalitarian
one political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
monarchy
a king or queen inherits their power and position through the family line
absolute monarchy
the monarch holds total control over the country
constitutional monarchies
This is when a monarch holds some power but it is restricted by a constitution
dictatorship
there is no sharing power with other authorities. The dictator is the sole runner over their country
oligarchy
a small group of people is in charge
Theocracy
A government run by religious doctrine
democracy
the power is given to the people
direct democracy
This is when every citizen is given an equal vote in government and, together, make all of the important decisions.
indirect democracy
where citizens elect (vote for, or choose) lawmakers to represent their interest in government.
representative democracy
Representative democracy is modeled after a ancient roman republic
constitutional Republic
where U.S citizen vote representatives to make laws and decisions
anarchy
no one is in charge
