Autocracy
One person is in power (Example: Monarch or dictatorship)
Monarchy
A king or queen inherits their power and position through their family line
Totalitarian
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them
Absolute monarchy
The monarch holds total control over the country

The monarch holds some power, but it is restricted by a constitution

There is no sharing power with other authorities

A small group of people is in charge
Democracy
The power is given to the people, the citizens, of the nation

Every citizen is given an equal vote in government and, together, make all of the important decisions

Citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
