Autocracy
One person has the power (Example: Monarchy and Dictatorship)
Monarchy
A king or Queen inherits their power and position through their family line.
Absolute Monarchy
Monarch hold total control over the country.
Constitutional Monarchy
The monarch hold some power, but it is restricted by a constitution: Written or unwritten document that lays out the structure of a government.
Dictatorship
There is no sharing power with other authorities.
Oligarchy
A small group of people is in charge
Democracy
The power is given to the people, the citizens.
Direct Democracy
Every citizens is given an equal vote in government and, together, make all of the important decisions.
Representative Democracy
Citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government.
Constitutional Republic
Citizens vote on representatives to make laws and decisions for the country, according to the rules laid out in the U.S. Constitution.
Theocracy
A government run by religious doctrine
Anarchy
NOT A GOVERNMENT NOBODY RULES THE COUNTRY NO ONE IS IN CHARGE (No countries have this).

One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
