Autocracy
One person has the power. (Ex. Monarchy and Dictatorship.)
Monarchy
A kind or queen inherits their position through their family line
Absolute Monarchy
The monarch holds total control over the country
Totalitarian
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them
Constitutional Monarchies
When the monarch holds some power, but is restricted
Dictatorship
There is no sharing power with other authorities (Ex. Hitler)
Oligarchy
A small group of people is in charge
Democracy
The power is given to the people, the citizens, of the nation
Direct Democracy
When every citizen is given an equal vote in government and together, make all of the important decisions of voting age
Representative Democracy also known as Indirect Democracy
When citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
Representative Democracy
Can also be called a republic
Constitutional Republic
U.S. citizens vote on representatives to make laws and decisions for the country
Theocracy
A government run by religious doctrine
Anarchy
No one is in charge

Make laws, enforce laws, judicial power
