Autocracy
one person is in power
Monarchy
a king/queen inherits their power and position through their family line
Absolute Monarchy
the monarch holds total control over the country
Constitutional Monarchies
when the monarch holds some power, but it is restricted by a constitution
Totalitarian
One political party is in power. and people are forced to do what the government tells them
Dictatorship
There is no sharing power with other authorities. The dictator is the sole ruler over their country
Oligarchy
A small group of people is in charge
Democracy
100% of the power is given to the people, the citizens of the nation.
Direct Democracy
This is when every citizen is given an equal vote in the government and together make all of the important decisions
Representative Democracy
where citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government also known as indirect democracy
Constitutional Republic
U.S citizens vote on representatives to make laws and decisions for the country, according to the rules laid out in the U.S constitution
Theocracy
a government run by religious beliefs
Anarchy
no one is in charge
