Nation-State
The power is given to the people, the citizens of the nation
Democracy
Vote for someone to represent us in government
Republic
one person in charge of the government
Autocracy
A group of people who control the country make laws and keep in order
Government
were no one is in charge
Anarchy
Every citizen is given an equal vote in government and together make all of the important decisions
Direct Democracy
Citizens collect (vote for or choose) lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
Indirect Democracy
A government run by religious doctrine
Theocracy
A small group of people are in charge
Oligarchy
There is no sharing power with other authorities
Dictatorship
The monarchy holds total control over the country
Absolute Monarchy
When a monarchy holds some power but it’s restricted by a constitution
Constitutional Monarchy
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
Totalitarian
People vote for the Legislature and for the leader of the country
