Vote for someone to represent us in government.
Republic
To make laws, enforce laws, and judiciary power (alter laws)
What are some roles of government?
To make and enforce laws, protect people, and to provide public services.
What are the roles of government?
The power is given to the people, the citizens of the nation.
Democracy
every citizen is given an equal vote in government and together make all of the important decisions Example: four friends trying to vote for where to eat dinner.
Direct Democracy
citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government.
Indirect Democracy
A government ran by religious doctrine.
Theocracy
a small group of people is in charge.
Oligarchy
No sharing powers with other authorities. Oppressive, Stifling the rights of their citizens.
Dictatorship
Holds total control over the country
Absolute Monarchy
Holds some power but is restricted by a constitution.
Constitutional Monarchy
no one is in charge.
Anarchy
A group of people who control the country. make laws, and keep orders.
Government
One political party is in power. And people are forced to do what the government tells them.
